Summertime Foods for Healthy Hair

Okay, so this may not totally be about foods that make your hair healthy, but maybe more about foods that help protect your hair during the summer. However, some of these foods do both! There are so many fruits, veggies, and other foods that protect your hair from the summer sun and also promote hair growth! So let’s dive right in! SuRprise Sale 55

Blueberries

Antioxidants. Antioxidants. ANTIOXIDANTS! Blueberries contain the most antioxidants out of any fruit or vegetable. Antioxidants can prevent or slow damage to cells caused by free radicals, unstable molecules that the body produces as a reaction to environmental and other pressures. This, in turn, protects your hair from harmful rays, heat, and so many other things that can damage your hair’s health. Throw some blueberries in a smoothie, eat them in pancakes, or, my favorite, eat them frozen by themselves!

Oysters

I actually feel like a hypocrite writing this, because I absolutely hate oysters. Buuuuuuuuuut that doesn’t mean they aren’t healthy for your hair! I’m pretty picky when it comes to a lot of food, but I know for a fact that oysters are full of zinc. What does zinc do? Zinc renews hair cells and promotes regrowth! It’s actually pretty amazing. My girlfriend told me to tell you to eat Washington oysters on saltine crackers (her favorite). I’m going to stick with the blueberries.

Spinach

Okay, back to something I can actually stomach. Spinach! It’s green! It’s leafy! It’s healthy! And, depending on how you cook/serve it, it can be super yummy. I can eat raw spinach, but I feel like the most flavor comes from sauted spinach. Although sauteing spinach does cook some of the nutrients out of it, it’s still healthy for you! Spinach helps red blood cells to carry oxygen to hair follicles and keep the healthy hair growth phases in action. Do it. Maybe even add it to a smoothie with… you guessed it… blueberries!

Eggs

Eggs may be the most versatile of foods. Scramble ‘em. Fry ‘em. Boil ‘em. Eat them on burgers. Use them to bake. So. Many. Options. Eggs are absolutely PACKED with nutrients, including biotin. Biotin is one of the best over-the-counter options for hair regrowth. Eat breakfast! And then eat breakfast for dinner. Your hair will thank you.

Tangerines

Tangerines are not only delicious, but they help keep your hair beautiful. They contain two important vitamins for keeping your natural hair beautiful and healthy: vitamin C and vitamin B12. Vitamin C improves your iron intake, which boosts blood flow and hair growth, while the B12 Protects you from hair loss and helps your hair grow faster.
