Mardi Gras is here and it’s one of the biggest parties of the year! People go absolutely nuts on Mardi Gras, for no other reason really than to dress up in colorful outfits and drink their faces off. One of the main parts of dressing up for Mardi Gras is wearing wigs. SO. MANY. WIGS. And that’s super cool! It’s fun to change your hair color to blue, yellow, green, or any other vibrant, showy color. But you have to do it right! Don’t go dying your hair for the sake of Mardi Gras. That has the potential to damage and dry out your hair. Get yourself a nice wig that allows you to keep your hair clean and healthy. 
First, don’t wear your wig for too long. It can cause your scalp to itch, which will in turn cause you to instinctively scratch your head through the wig. This moves your hair around and can actually pull hair out. It also dries out your scalp, which can cause hair loss and damage. Wear your wig for short periods of time, and never sleep in it!
There are two types of wigs. You can buy synthetic hair wigs, which have drastically improved over the years with technology; or you can buy real human hair wigs, which obviously will be more expensive, but also look and feel more natural. The major difference between the two, other than feel, is that the synthetic wigs are limited in terms of styles. Human hair wigs you can just about do anything with as far as style is concerned. But synthetic wigs typically have a memory aspec to the fibers, making it difficult to style them in particular ways.
For a Mardi Gras party, you’re most likely going to go with a synthetic wig, due to those being available in vibrant colors and also being cost effective!
