Hair loss is a problem for millions of Americans, and we all think it comes a lot earlier than it should. The good news is that there are ways to get your scalp healthy again and restore your hair to it's full-flowing beauty.

Tip # 1: Healthy hair means a healthy person overall. Hair follicles require the same carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals that you need, so one of the best foods you can eat for scalp health is salmon, which contains omega-3 fatty acids and lots of protein. You should also eat foods that are rich in vitamins A and B12, biotin, and iron. This includes lots of eggs and spinach. Selenium and zinc are also good for hair health. If these foods aren't readily available, then take supplements to cover the slack. You and your hair are what you eat

Tip #2: Keep your scalp properly cleaned and conditioned
To eliminate dead skin cells that develop into dandruff, add three spoonfuls of sugar to your normal bottle of shampoo and use your fingers to work it in when you bathe or shower. Afterwards, use a conditioner that works all the way to the roots to keep it properly moisturized.

Tip #3: Don't dye on your own
If you get your hair colored, your scalp shouldn't tingle if it's healthy. A tingling scalp is a dry one, which will worsen over time because many dyes contain ammonia that can damage an unhealthy scalp. The best way to ensure a healthy scalp is to come to experts like us when you want to dye your hair.

Tip #4: Limit your time in the sun
Just as too much sun is bad for the skin, it can also be bad for your hair. Overexposure can cause sunburn on your scalp and make your hair dry. The best protection for your scalp is to wear a hat on sunny summer days. or use hair care products with sunscreen in them.

Tip #5: Massage your hair when bathing
When lathering shampoo, take your time to massage your scalp using your fingers in small circular patterns. However, don't use your fingernails as they can damage your scalp. This will help increase blood flow and stimulate follicle production. Finally, if none of these tips are doing enough, then call us today to get your hair vibrant again.
